I want to say a quick thank you to the blogger who nominated me for this award, it was incredibly sweet, and completely unexpected; Michel @ Raistlin0903. Michel is the definition of sweet. He is a really wonderful presence to have on your blog, or in your blogging community. Continuously supportive and kind, I couldn’t be happier to have him as a friend and am truly humbled by his nomination for this award.

THE QUESTIONS:

1. What (or who) inspires you and why?

I am often inspired by a lot of things and people. I get ideas from everywhere and don’t think I would be able to credit “my inspiration” to any one person or thing. Sorry that is so vague and doesn’t really answer the question!

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I don’t want to be cliche but, I love the community! I like that I have my own space to talk about books in, especially considering that I have no one to talk to about them in person. I like feeling like I have my own voice, and that my opinion about books and other things matter to someone else. It is nice to feel like you belong somewhere, and have people who like the same things as you.

3. If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be and why?

I would be Hermione Granger (obviously). She is badass, she loves books and learning, AND she has the best, best friend (Harry). She is kind, and considerate, and I often see a lot of myself reflected in her character. I wouldn’t end up with Ron though, if I were to actually become Hermione. ..

 

4. If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

Oh, that’s too easy! I would spend it traveling. There are so many places I want to see, that I could probably do a lot with 6 months of no obligations or financial constraints…

5. What is one piece of advice that you would give a new blogger?

Honestly, I would probably tell them that you absolutely should not compare yourself to other blogs. You don’t have to post as often, or read the same books (for a book blogger) to be a part of the community. Not setting deadlines and having no posting schedule has really helped make this blog still fun for me. After all, it is only a hobby (for me at least) and doesn’t need to be another source of stress.

Yeah, my best advice for a new blogger would be to follow/comment on blogs that you enjoy (to become part of the community) and not put too much pressure on yourself. Don’t compare your blog to others, because we are all unique. Isn’t that why people follow us in the first place?

eeek! I hate these usually. Let’s see, what can I share with you?

One of my favorite Booktubers is Hailey from Hailey in Wonderland. Recently she has been going through a serious purge of books, which in turn, has got me wondering if I should do the same.

More than half my books are still at my parents house (because my tiny apartment has no room for them) but I want to eventually have my full collection back in one place. I always dreamed of having an office/library where the shelves are filled with books, and I think for that reason, I became a book hoarder. Watching Hailey, and hearing her reasoning for finally releasing her hoards really has made me think about my collection, and whether or not I need to reevaluate what I am holding on to. I have never been TBR conscious though, so that is one thing that I don’t share with her. Yes I get overwhelmed by looking at the stacks of books I couldn’t possibly get to, BUT the actual number doesn’t bother me. For example, on my Goodreads TBR, I think I have almost 500 books listed. This would be very overwhelming for some, but not for me. I think what it comes down to is that I like being surrounded by books, and I like to be optimistic about eventually getting to the ones I can’t help myself from buying. But realistically, I don’t need to hold on to the ones I have no interest in ever reading, or didn’t like that much to begin with. I think an evaluation of my shelves every so often can help keep them organized. If I have no desire to read them, gone. If I didn’t like them that much, gone. Yeah, maybe once or twice a year, going through to make sure the unread are still interesting, and that the unliked are finding new homes. Anyway, rant over.
