They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking at simple things. Your bookshelf, for instance. It is always the first thing I look for when visiting a friend’s house/apartment for the first time. What does their bookshelf look like? Are there multiple shelves? How are the books arranged? Are they decorated with trinkets and such? These questions (and their answers) help me determine a better understanding of said friend. I think that is why we are all so interested in each other’s shelves!
Anyway; today I have for you a What’s On My Bookshelf tag! I saw this on My Mundane Life’s page (she did not tag me) but I really liked the idea and thought I might participate too! The OG creator of this tag is Naty’s Bookshelf (you can find the link to her page below).
Let’s get ready to peak at my shelves!
- Link back to me so I can see everyone’s answers! (Naty’s Bookshelf)
- Also link back to the person who tagged you!
- Name one book for each category; try not to repeat books to make this more fun!
- Tag at least 5 people
A LIBRARY BOOK
I literally have an entire stack of books from the library at the moment. I like to put in hold requests for super popular books I’m not going to buy at the library. They usually take a while to finally get to me, so I can read other things in the meantime. I also place multiple holds at any given time. Unfortunately for me, all the holds I’ve placed in the last month or so have decided to come in, all at the same time…
The President is Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson
Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
A Whole New World by Liz Braswell
Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman
Plus- I picked these up at the library to prep for a library conference I am going to in October in which we have to have read specific books so we can discuss them…
PLUS two ARCs that I borrowed from the library system (as a librarian to review)
Pride by Ibi Zoboi
Checked by Cynthia Kadohada
A BOOK YOU GOT AS A GIFT
I got this book as a gift from my brother’s best friend! He thought it would be cool if we read the same book and talked about it the next time we saw each other.
A CHILDHOOD BOOK
hmmm this is a good one. I am going to skip the obvious (Harry Potter) and go with Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. This was one of the first books I ever remember loving. And certainly one of the first school assigned books that I actually enjoyed.
A MAGICAL BOOK
I mean, magic is in the title of these books. I feel like they are pretty magical!
A ROMANTIC BOOK
It is so hard for me to commit to saying something is “romantic,” especially because the majority of books I read with romance in them, have other things going on, so I don’t automatically think of them as romantic, you know?
A STEAMY BOOK
I am borderline ashamed to admit that I own these but the notorious Fifty Shades series does reside on my shelf. And if those aren’t steamy…I quit.
AN OLD BOOK
I have a soft spot for old books…so when my library discards them, or I find a good one at a thrift store, I cave and take them home.
I have a ton of older books, but I keep forgetting to take a picture of them.. so sorry!
A BOOK THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH
I remember laughing all through this book.
A BOOK THAT MAKES YOU EMOTIONAL
I’m a crier, so this one should be super easy.
A BOOK WHOSE ENDING YOU DISLIKE
I really liked this book, but I think I ultimately wanted more from the ending, or at least a promise of continuation.
A BOOK YOU WISH HAD ILLUSTRATIONS
Ooh! This was the first one that came into my head.
A BOOK OR GENRE YOU LOVE READING WHEN ITS RAINING
Books in general are wonderful when it is raining but I guess I will go with suspense/thriller for this one.
