Guys! Let me get all nostalgic with you for a second. I posted my very first book related post on this blog on October 13, 2017. It was a Book of the Month cover, and to tell you the truth, not too much has changed about these posts since then! If you are curious, you can view my first ever BOTM post here: October 2017.
Ahhhh! A whole year of posting with you guys. It feels so good to have an outlet for my book obsessions, and be among like-minded peers. Unfortunately, I had to wait a wee bit for this post to go live because I had to wait a little longer for my BOTM choices (one of my books doesn’t come out until like the 12th of the month, and they wouldn’t send it to me before the release date). ALAS! Here we are! I struggled a bit because I really wanted to get the Hank Green book, but talked myself out of it, in fear that I wouldn’t like it. In any rate, my library has a few copies so I can always check it out there when I am ready.
Winter in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand
Spend the coldest days of winter on a Caribbean beach with New York Times Bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand.
Join New York Times Bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand on the stunning beaches of St. John for the beginning of her thrilling new winter series-The Paradise. Welcome to Paradise, the first book in the Paradise series, has everything that readers have come to know and love about an Elin Hilderbrand novel, plus a healthy dose of intrigue. Irene Steele’s idyllic life-house, husband, family-is shattered when she is woken up by a late-night phone call. Her beloved husband has been found dead, but before Irene can process this tragic news, she must confront the perplexing details of her husband’s death. He was found on St. John island, a tropical paradise far removed from their suburban life. Leaving the cold winter behind, Irene flies down to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of St. John only to make another shocking discovery: her husband had a secret second family. As Irene investigates the mysterious circumstances of her husband’s death, she is plunged into a web of intrigue and deceit belied by the pristine white sand beaches of St. John’s. This exciting first book in the Paradise series will transport readers to a new beach locale-another world that Elin knows as well as her beloved Nantucket-and have them longing for winter
I swear this woman is a book writing machine! I JUST saw her at Book Expo in June with her newest book, The Perfect Couple, and here she is again with a new winter-themed story. This one does NOT take place in old faithful, Nantucket, but instead a new tropical location. The idea sounds pretty interesting, and it is suppose to be book one in a new “winter” themed series. I am kind of excited to see where this thing goes! Yes, I know what you are thinking, “but Sam, you haven’t read ANY of the Hilderbrand books you currently own yet.” While that may be true, I did thoroughly enjoy the one book of hers that I did read, and imagine that this will be a nice escape when then snow is pounding down on us this season.
Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks
Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At thirty-six, she’s been dating her boyfriend, an orthopedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family’s cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future.
Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother’s early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable . . . but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty against personal happiness in devastating ways.
Illuminating life’s heartbreaking regrets and enduring hope, Every Breath explores the many facets of love that lay claim to our deepest loyalties — and asks the question, How long can a dream survive?
This was my problemed child this month. They wouldn’t release my box until this book officially came out to the world. Anyway- Yes, I realize now as a pretty seasoned reader that his books are not that great, and that he himself can get a little predictable with his plotlines, BUT I have read almost all his books, and honestly enjoyed a great deal of them. And to be honest, my best friend also really likes his books and I can give her my copy when I am finished with it.
I practiced some real restraint people! There were a lot of really great selections for this month! Actually, lately, BOTM has really been swinging for the fences! I ain’t mad at it. I love that this subscription box stays super relevant and does a great job with their selections each month. I have had this subscription for over a year and I am still really loving it! And can we just talk about these covers? I am just DYING to travel just looking at them!
Are any of these on your radar? What do you think? Let’s chat!
