TBR Tuesday – A New Feature!

I have been recently inspired by Kristin Kraves Books and other blogs to highlight, and talk about my TBR with you guys. Other than my monthly wrap-ups, BOTM posts, Calendar Girls and an occasionally FIF, I don’t have any consistently posted content on this blog. I have been wracking my brain to think of something I can easily keep up with and have things to post about, and what I have decided to try requires the use of my TBR!

I know a lot of people on here stress about the size of their TBR. I know people who prefer to keep their TBR below 100. I am not one of those people. Actually, in reality, I add books CONSTANTLY to Goodreads. Currently I am sitting on a 458 count in “Want to Read.” For some that would be extremely daunting and overwhelming. For me though, it doesn’t always bother me (actually, what bothers me most is my physical TBR piles, but we’ll attack that later).

Anyway- the point of this weekly post will be my way of working through my TBR with all of you. Whether it is discussing books I recently added and why (like Kristin does here), or picking random books from the bottom of the list and figuring out if I still want to keep them, I am aiming to write about it every Tuesday for the foreseeable future.

So for you I have today, a list of all the books I added to my TBR in October, and why they have been added. Without further ado, let’s get started!

 

I’ll Be There For You: The One About Friends by Kelsey Miller

I saw this reviewed on another blogger’s page (though it is escaping me who at the moment- update: I think I saw it here) and immediately fell in love. I mean it is no secret that I am a huge fan of the series Friends. I watch (and re-watch) the series over and over, always choosing it as my go to. That, plus the fact that I want to eventually trickle into the nonfiction side of book collecting, I can’t imagine this as something I won’t own. Actually, in fact, I convinced myself while writing this that I needed it, and it should be here next week!

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

This was a pick for BOTM and I passed it up. I actually was super reluctant to read it but I saw an amazing review for it on Katie’s page and when she expressed how much she loved it, I knew I had to add it to my TBR. I don’t think I will buy it, but my library has a few copies that I am keeping my eye on. Maybe I will get to it next month.

Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks

This was another one I almost passed up. I haven’t read many of Nicholas Spark’s newest books, but once upon a time, I read almost all of them. My best friend still enjoys his books and when I saw it as an option to add on to my BOTM for October, I decided to pick it simply because I can ship it off to my best friend when I am finished with it. Here’s to hoping for a quick, sappy read.

Winter in Paradise bu Elin Hilderbrand

This was my BOTM choice for October. I read one of her books a summer or two ago and really enjoyed it. I haven’t read anything by her since, but I thought it would be fun to have a beach read ready to go for those cold days of winter that are due to sneak up on us shortly.

Dry by Neal Shusterman

I haven’t actually read any of his books yet, but this one (and Scythe) really caught my eye. Sadly, I feel like the situation rising in this book is not far off from a future of our own. It might do me some good to read ahead…for research purposes of course.

A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult

Again, back in the day, I read quite a bit of Jodi Picoult’s books. The Love Pact was one of my favorites of all time for a while. As I got to college, and fell out of reading, I lost touch with her writing. This is the first I have seen of her since my personal return to reading, and I am curious to see if my tastes have evolved past her writing or if I will enjoy it as much as I used to. Update: I entered a giveaway for a copy of this book and WON! I am planning on doing a little write up on in when it gets here, so keep an eye out for that!

If, Then by Kate Hope Day

Truthfully, I didn’t exactly add this myself, it was automatically added to my TBR because I entered a giveaway for it on Goodreads. It may or may not stay on the list in the coming months. We’ll see. The giveaway was for and ARC of it, and it sounds fairly interesting though.

Don’t Call Me Crazy: 33 Voices Start the Conversation About Mental Health edited by Kelly Jenson

This one I have seen mentioned on a few other blogs, AND I entered a giveaway for it on Goodreads. Seems like a great little book to have that tackles an important topic. Either way, I think that I would like to own this at some point.

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Was it changed to just 7 deaths in the US? Did I already add this to my TBR? Who knows. All I know is that I have been seeing this everywhere, and that Hailey (from Hailey in Bookland on youtube- you can see her brief review of it on her Goodreads page here) really liked it, so naturally now I want to read it. In all seriousness though, it sounds pretty good, so why not?

Crush by Svetlana Chmakova

I LOVED Awkward when it first came out. Somehow I had no idea that Chmakova wrote other books! Crush comes out a little later this year, and I am catching up by reading Brave right now. This series is Reina Telgemeier-esque, and I think that many fans of Smile and Roller Girl would enjoy it. This is actually perfect timing because I have been craving a good graphic novel lately and now I have TWO (Brave & Crush). If I ever decided that I wanted to collect some graphic novels, this series along with Victoria Jamieson’s books would be on the top of my list.

And that my friends is all that has been added for the month of October. As you will come to realize, I am not shy when it comes to adding books to my TBR. I rarely think twice about it, and truthfully, it doesn’t usually take all that much to get me to add to it.
