Hey ya’ll! I am coming at ya with a “weekly” meme thanks to my friend Joe over @ Storeys of Stories! I really liked this idea because it is less commitment on my part (I don’t have to do it EVERY week, only when I start a new book) and gets me talking about books I have just started (or want to start very soon).
Straight from the horse’s mouth (if you will):
First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther. Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right? I think what will really make this meme a lot of fun, is linking back to it from your review to say, “Look at how wrong I was!” OR “See? I knew it all along!”
This week I started: Sadie by Courtney Summers
So Sadie just happened to be on my TBR AND the Mock Printz awards list. I am tentatively enjoying it so far. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I have heard a lot of mix reviews of this book. I know the book community on here and YouTube have mostly given it rave reviews, but a few colleagues of mine found it disturbing. So far I am seeing both sides.
Again, unfortunately I have heard AMAZING things about the audiobook for this one, but I don’t really listen to audiobooks nor can I get my hands on it at the moment. It contains a full cast though, and because half the book itself is told in a podcast format, the audio is that much more desirable. I really like the podcast format. I think it is super unique and gives the story a different layer of context. It really sets it apart from others for this reason.
Right now I have no idea how I will rate it! I am going to go with a 3.5 out of 5 stars though, just to be on the safe side (in case the story takes a turn for the worst).
Have you read Sadie? what did you think (NO SPOILERS!) Let’s chat in the comments :]
