Hey ya’ll! I am coming at ya with a “weekly” meme thanks to my friend Joe over @ Storeys of Stories! I really liked this idea because it is less commitment on my part (I don’t have to do it EVERY week, only when I start a new book) and gets me talking about books I have just started (or want to start very soon).
Straight from the horse’s mouth (if you will):
First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther. Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right? I think what will really make this meme a lot of fun, is linking back to it from your review to say, “Look at how wrong I was!” OR “See? I knew it all along!”
This month I am starting:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
So I thought it would be fitting to announce that I will be buddy reading this book this month with my good pal, and FIF creator Joe (@Storeys of Stories)! Shockingly enough, no, I have no read this book yet, and neither has Joe! As it turns out, were discussing Dread Nation (which I had read earlier this year, and Joe had recently finished) when we came to the conclusion that we wanted to do a buddy read together. Since Joe already had a fairly strict TBR I just simply picked which one I would be willing to read with him and here we are! I am excited to try this one out, especially knowing I will be able to talk it through every step of the way. I know that is this a pivotal book for many book fans, so I am a little intimidated. And truth be told, I don’t know much about it other than it is narrated by death, so I don’t know what I am getting myself into. BUT I am really looking forward to diving in :]
I think I am going to go the safe route and predict a 3 out of 5 stars for this one. I don’t know how I feel about death as a narrator, and really don’t know what to expect out of this.
