First Impression Friday – Opposite of Always

Hey ya’ll! I am coming at ya with a “weekly” meme thanks to my friend Joe over @ Storeys of Stories! I really liked this idea because it is less commitment on my part (I don’t have to do it EVERY week, only when I start a new book) and gets me talking about books I have just started (or want to start very soon).

Straight from the horse’s mouth (if you will):

First Impression Friday will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther.  Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.  Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right? I think what will really make this meme a lot of fun, is linking back to it from your review to say, “Look at how wrong I was!” OR “See? I knew it all along!”

This week I started:

Opposite of Always – Justin A. Reynolds

35380157

I am just about 100 pages in and I honestly am reading this super quickly. It is light, and funny and things are just starting to get serious. I love the banter between the characters. It is quirky, so I can see where it might annoy some, but I rather enjoy it, and it is making me read the book faster than I normally would. I thought it was a contemporary (?) but something at the VERY beginning is making me think it has a slight supernatural or sci-fi element to it? I am not sure how that will play out, or if I will like it, but so far, nothing is amiss, and it is enjoyable. As of right now, I am predicting a 4.5 out of 5 stars! I needed just this kind of story after reading Practical Magic, so I am really glad I picked it up.

    1. Yes! And its a pretty fast read too! I feel like I sat down and after 20 mins read 100 pages or something! Its really nice to pick up one that I like after reading one I didn’t, you know?
